A New Bishop in Uganda

The Central Conference of Africa has elected
The Rev. Daniel Wandabula, district superintendent in Uganda and Sudan to the
episcopacy.

An email from Tafadzwa Mudabanuki of United Methodist Communications advises that the Central Conference of Africa has elected The Rev. Daniel Wandabula to the episcopacy. Bishop-elect Wandabula served as District Superintendent of Uganda and Sudan. His region, which includes Uganda, Sudan, Burundi and Rwanda, is particularly affected by war and civil strife in addition to the results of poverty. His voice of behalf of the people of southern Sudan, his concern for the poor throughout the region and his advocacy for better communications capacity to allow the church to deliver messages of hope and health is a welcome expression of leadership. In his new role we can look forward to an even stronger focus on compassion and service in the region.
